Referrals to PEHSU

It is increasingly common for mothers or fathers concerned about environmental risk factors and their relationship with the health or illness of family members to come to primary care or hospital consultations. Sometimes these are complex clinical situations in which the assessment and communication of environmental risks require the approach of units specialized in environmental pediatrics.

Currently, the Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (PEHSU) located at the Olot and Garrotxa Regional Hospital receives consultations from the Girona Health Region, but also from other health regions and even from other Autonomous Communities. Many of the consultations can be attended to in a non-face-to-face manner directly with the professional. At PEHSU we want to provide the necessary structural support so that any Primary Care consultation or other hospital centers in the Girona Health Region can resolve doubts or make assessments about environmental risks to children and adolescents. For this reason, we make available the ASYNCRONOUS ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH consultation.
